Impregnation makes the facade water-repellent with an invisible agent that soaks into the stone. Rainwater beads off, the wall stays drier and green growth gets far less grip. The facade remains vapour-open, so moisture from inside can still escape.
Impregnation costs € 8 to € 15 per m² and lasts 5 to 10 years on average. It only works on bare, untreated stonework with sound pointing — a painted facade won't absorb the agent, and damaged joints must be repaired first.
Often combined with a cleaning visit: the agent bonds best to a clean, dry surface.
